I have always had a love of art. Art, be it painting, potting or sculpting has always been my way of expressing feeling or observations of life.
The canvas’s I have recently started to develop have evolved through my love of textiles and the use of colour. Through mixing media, I have been able to explore the qualities of each material and have, created work of
beauty and spiritual calming.
I try to envelop texture and depth into my work. I do this by incorporating different materials into the canvas – as well as applying varying methods of making into the art work. I am constantly developing new techniques to the surface finish of the canvas, sometimes mixing sand to paint or using a hot glue gun to create a desired effect. I have also discovered metallic rub finishes – which seem to bring a canvas alive – particularly when differing lights reflect on the art surface.
If I can bring a little enjoyment into people’s lives, through my artwork, then I am truly blessed. Artwork is currently being exhibited at Market Cross Gallery, Beverley.
I hope you enjoy the artscapes.
